Dutch tool chest part 2 of 3

So at this point the only construction related work remaining is to apply two hardwood battens/runners to the bottom of the chest, and to place the handles on the sides. 

I just finished finessing the edges and sanding all the tool marks and pencil lines, etc away. 

Following this I placed two coats of Danish oil on all but the interior surfaces. I plan to apply some natural shellac as well, though I am still making up my mind about it. These chests are typically painted. HOWEVER I hate painting even more than sanding (and I am frequently frustrated by the results I get). We will see…

In the next post we will have the final results as well as an honest critique of mistakes made & lessons learned along the way.
